Prediction market and trading terminology

A reference of key terms used throughout Vezta and the prediction market ecosystem.

Access Key

A unique code required to create a Vezta account during the early access period. Access keys can be obtained through referral links from existing users.

AMM (Automated Market Maker)

A mechanism that provides liquidity using a mathematical formula rather than a traditional order book. Some prediction markets use AMMs to ensure markets always have available liquidity.

CLOB (Central Limit Order Book)

An order matching system where buy and sell orders are listed by price and matched in priority order. Polymarket uses a CLOB model for its markets.

Copy Trading

A feature that lets you automatically replicate the trades of another user. When a trader you follow places a trade, the same trade is executed on your account based on your configured settings.

Counter Trade

A trade placed in the opposite direction of another trader's position. Used as a contrarian strategy against specific wallets.

Event Group

A collection of related markets grouped under a single event. For example, a presidential election event might contain markets for each candidate, popular vote margins, and swing state outcomes.

Limit Order

An order to buy or sell at a specific price or better. The order will only execute when the market reaches your specified price. Offers more control than market orders but may not fill immediately.

Liquidity

The ease with which shares can be bought or sold without significantly affecting the price. Higher liquidity means tighter spreads and less slippage.

Market Maker

A participant who provides liquidity by placing both buy and sell orders on a market. Market makers profit from the spread between their bid and ask prices.

Market Order

An order that executes immediately at the best available price. Guarantees execution but not the exact price you will receive.

NO Share

An outcome share that pays $1.00 if the predicted event does not occur. If the event does occur, the share is worth $0.00.

Open Interest

The total value of outstanding positions in a market. High open interest indicates strong participation and commitment from traders.

Order Book

A real-time list of all pending buy and sell orders for a market, organized by price level. Shows the available liquidity at each price point.

Outcome Share

A tradable unit representing one possible outcome of a prediction market. Each share pays $1.00 if its associated outcome occurs, and $0.00 if it does not.

PnL (Profit and Loss)

The net financial result of your trading activity. Calculated as the difference between the sale price (or settlement value) and the purchase price of your shares, minus any fees.

Prediction Market

A market where participants trade on the outcomes of future events. Prices reflect the crowd's estimated probability of each outcome occurring.

Probability

The market-implied likelihood of an event occurring, expressed as a percentage. Derived directly from the price of YES shares -- a YES price of $0.72 implies a 72% probability.

Resolution

The process of determining the final outcome of a prediction market. Once resolved, winning shares pay out $1.00 and losing shares pay out $0.00.

Settlement

The final payout process after a market resolves. Funds from losing positions are distributed to winning positions according to the resolution outcome.

Slippage

The difference between the expected price of a trade and the actual price at which it executes. Slippage increases in low-liquidity markets or with large order sizes.

Sniper Order

An order configured to execute the moment a new market goes live or when a specific price condition is met. Used by Pro traders to get early positions on newly listed markets.

Spread

The difference between the best available buy price (bid) and sell price (ask) in a market. A tighter spread indicates better liquidity and lower trading costs.

Sub-Wallet

A platform-managed wallet that holds your deposited funds on the underlying prediction market (Polymarket or Kalshi). Vezta uses sub-wallets to route trades without requiring you to manage separate platform accounts.

Volume

The total value of shares traded in a market over a given period. High volume indicates active interest and typically correlates with better liquidity.

YES Share

An outcome share that pays $1.00 if the predicted event does occur. If the event does not occur, the share is worth $0.00.
