Place Your First Trade
Step-by-step guide to placing your first prediction
This guide walks you through placing your first prediction market trade on Vezta. If you have not yet connected your wallet and funded your account, complete those steps first.
Understanding Prediction Market Shares
In a prediction market, you buy outcome shares that pay out if your prediction is correct:
- A YES share pays $1.00 if the event happens
- A NO share pays $1.00 if the event does not happen
The current price of a share reflects the market's estimated probability. If YES shares are trading at $0.65, the market believes there is roughly a 65% chance the event will occur. If you buy YES at $0.65 and the event happens, you receive $1.00 -- a profit of $0.35 per share.
Placing a Trade
Browse Markets
Navigate to the Terminal or Markets page. Use the category tabs at the top (Politics, Crypto, Sports, Finance, etc.) to browse by topic, or use the search bar to find a specific market. Apply filters for volume, probability, or time until resolution to narrow your results.
Select a Market
Click on any market row to open the market detail view. Here you will see:
- Probability chart -- Historical price movement over time (6H / 1D / 1W / 1M / ALL)
- Order book -- Current buy and sell orders with depth
- Recent trades -- Latest transactions and their sizes
- Market info -- Resolution criteria, volume, liquidity, closing date, source badge
Choose YES or NO
In the trading panel on the right side of the market detail page, select whether you want to buy YES or NO shares:
- Buy YES if you believe the event will happen
- Buy NO if you believe the event will not happen
Set Your Amount
Enter the amount you want to trade. You can type a custom amount or use the preset buttons ($10, $25, $50, $100). The panel will show:
- Price per share -- How much each share costs
- Estimated shares -- How many shares you will receive
- Potential profit -- Your payout if your prediction is correct
- Estimated fee -- Trading fee in USD
- Max loss -- The most you can lose (your trade amount)
Choose Order Type
For your first trade, a market order is the simplest option -- it executes immediately at the best available price.
If you want more control, use a limit order to set the maximum price you are willing to pay. Your order will only fill at your specified price or better. Note: DFlow only supports market orders today; limit orders are Polymarket-only.
Confirm and Place the Order
Review the trade details and click Place Order.
- For Polymarket markets: signed by your backend-managed EOA, settled into your Gnosis Safe. No wallet popup -- gas is sponsored via the Builder Relayer.
- For Kalshi (via DFlow) markets: your Phantom/Solflare wallet pops up with an unsigned
VersionedTransaction. Sign it; the frontend submits to Solana mainnet, then polls DFlow's order-status endpoint until it closes.
Track Your Position
After your order fills, the position appears in your Portfolio page. You can monitor its current value, unrealized PnL, and the market's latest probability. You can sell your shares at any time before the market resolves.
What Happens at Resolution
When the market's resolution date arrives, the outcome is determined:
- If you hold YES shares and the event happened, each share pays out $1.00
- If you hold YES shares and the event did not happen, each share pays out $0.00
- The same logic applies in reverse for NO shares
Your profit or loss is calculated automatically and reflected in your portfolio. Polymarket payouts settle to your Gnosis Safe in USDC.e; Kalshi/DFlow redemptions settle to your own Solana wallet.
You do not have to wait for resolution. You can sell your shares at any time on the open market. If the probability moves in your favor, you can lock in profit early.
Quick Buy Presets
For faster trading, Vezta offers Quick Buy presets. From the market browser, set a default trade size (e.g., $10) and click the "Buy YES" or "Buy NO" button directly from the table row to place a trade without opening the full market detail view.
Short-Duration Markets (5m / 15m)
Crypto Up/Down markets close every 5 minutes (Polymarket) or 15 minutes (Kalshi). On these markets the chart switches to a custom canvas view that overlays Binance spot prices for BTC/ETH/SOL/XRP and shows the target price as a dashed line. The terminal also adds a TimeframeNav above the chart so you can hop between sibling slots quickly.
Special Cases
Kalshi maintenance window: Kalshi runs maintenance Thursdays 3-5 AM ET. Orders submitted via DFlow during this window will be reverted by Kalshi. Vezta blocks order placement during this period.
DFlow geo-restriction: US users and ~50 additional countries are blocked from Kalshi-via-DFlow trading. If you are in a restricted region, you can still trade Polymarket markets normally.
